GRP FILMS is continuing to be meeting with potential seed capital partners who may provide the funding for the new documentary feature. With Larry Owsley being recruited as the new Executive Producer to lead this effort as a business partner with Stephanie Musser, the two Oklahomans are working diligently to find patriots who will be willing to stand for such a noble cause.
Ellen inspired our team and her life is an inspiration to all who have gone through PTSD and those who have survived trauma related to events on foreign soil who are civilians. Her bravey stands as an enormous inspiration to those whose lives have been forgotten.
We are now in the 20th anniversary year for this amazing story and we will be remembering the anniversary date coming in August 2018, twenty years later.
You have the opportunity to join GRP Films in making this story a reality beginning in this anniversary year. Maybe you were part of the legal team, or you were in Kenya when the bomb exploded and this is your chance to be a part of making history in media.
We especially thank Ted Koppell, Madeline Albright and the other leaders who cared so deeply for Ellen and her plight. Please remember these patriots in prayer.
Thanks again for keeping ELLEN'S LIGHT in your prayers. We will not stop until we make this amazing story using the visual language of film to impact culture.
THE FILM TEAM
Stephanie Musser has been working diligently the last sixty days and getting some amazing results for ELLEN'S LIGHT. She has been scheduling meetings in Texas and in Oklahoma for the purpose of finding financiers to help in the pilgrimage of getting the word out on this 20th anniversary year of the dramatic story.
Speaking with Ellen, Stephanie has been arranging meetings to discuss the participation in the Ellen's Light Film Partners LLC and has done a masterful job being promoted to CO-PRODUCER on the film project. She said, "This is something I believe so strongly in personally and I have seen how Ellen impacts everyone."
You have heard us speak before about the importance of finding Executive Producers to help come on board and the most recent recruit is a business executive out of the Edmond, Oklahoma area. Meeting with Dr. McAfee and the new EP has come about through a strategic series of meetings.
"Nothing beats hard work and what we have seen by Stephanie has really caused our entire production team to stand up and take notice. When things often stagnate, Steph just keeps going and we are very thankful for her obedience, diligence and belief" shared the Producer of the project.
Jim Gromer has come on board as the film's producer and he cares deeply for the film project too. He recently finished last year a documentary which received acclaim in the 500th Anniversary of Martin Luther. What an amazing honor to be shooting in Germany to walk through this legend of the faith.
We welcome Larry Owlsey in joining the Executive Producing team for GR Productions and look forward to making Ellen's Light a reality on many fronts going forward.
Continued perseverance is what it takes to make a film and we appreciate the Karas family and all those who care deeply for this beautiful story to be told. We continue to believe prayer and diligence will be the key in everything we are doing for this film.
Keep praying, get involved and consider being an investor in our wonderful cinematic experience. 2018 is our year and we need you now more than ever. Thank you so much for everything you are doing to stay connected to us.
Your Film Team
One of our staff members this week traveled seven hours one way via car to meet and discuss strategies for Ellen's Light in the new feature documentary being created. This takes faith, courage, vision and determination when you step out believing the best and realizing without sacrifice, there can never be true results.
THANK YOU STEPH
Our team is very thankful for the people who continue to get us so close to financial support for this amazing film. In all the years of GR PRODUCTIONS working, we know this story now in it's twentieth year stands to be highly acclaimed for the courage of Ellen. We want to recognize Stephanie Musser for her personal belief in this project as one of the Co-Producers of the film.
Second Sight is a key to helping so many people with bionic eyes and doing a film with a purpose is what drives the team to make a lasting difference. Especially folks like Ellen whose life was compromised in her sight due to the bombing in August of 1998.
Last month, TWELVE STRONG was released into theaters and in the first forty five seconds of the film, this epic movie mentions the bombings in Kenya and Tanzania. There are no accidents and this story needs to be told and we continue to believe we will start filming soon.
People are rising up in this nation and they want to do something that makes a difference. We thank people in Colorado, Texas, Michigan and Tennessee who desire to make a difference with us in creating the film ELLEN'S LIGHT.
We attended a conference this week meeting with some amazing teams of people who are in film distribution. The week could not have been more profitable for the entire venture with Ellen.
While at the NRB the Vice President of the United States talked about how character was needed in our nation now, more than ever. The story of ELLEN'S LIGHT is about Ellen reaching out to help others and living the "golden rule" based on one of the most powerful character building stories imaginable.
Even after she was found at the bottom of the rubble in the buildings where the bombings took place, she never grew bitter, she did not want revenge and is filled with compassion for those who were suffering more than herself. This is who this mighty woman truly is.

Ellen's Light Team of Believers
After the New Year we received another telephone call from Thomas Karas, the nephew of Ellen who is from Australia. Thomas is one of those entrepreneurial leaders who works so diligently helping as a Co Executive Producer. He is the son in law of George Karas and is a true connector of people.
Without people connecting with others, films are not made. ELLEN'S LIGHT is a feature documentary in development. We are establishing relationships wherever we can find them with people who are committed to helping tell a twenty year old story of inspiration and hope.
Do you know what an enormous blessing it is to share the story of Ellen? We are thrilled to announce that SECOND SIGHT has also reached out to her and we are so excited about the potential outcome of her eyes! There are many ways you can be involved in what we are doing too!
Have our team come share a screening in your neighborhood today. Invite those who care about making a difference in sharing stories that have the opportunity to touch hearts, inspire people and leave a legacy. You never know what amazing results could come from this!
VERITAS MISSION FILM ASSOCIATION is a non profit 501(c)3 and this group cares deeply about helping provide film support for this amazing documentary feature. All of us know this is destiny, because of the faith and belief from Ellen, her amazing family and the people who believe in this cause.
Thank you for being willing to become a part of bringing light to this world, as Ellen has brought light to our world!
Waiting on a miracle,
Dr. Kevin McAfee
The reason for success is simple, Executive Producers. Our team began with a group of unlikely EP's, but not in reality. These men and women are coming together with a purpose in mind that has "destiny" written all over the results.
Glenn Brown who was recruited by Nick Karas scheduled an amazing screening in Detroit in December. On a wintry night, Glenn invited prominent people from Michigan in Jackson to attend a special screening on behalf of our movie, ELLEN'S LIGHT.
Aristotle Karas has continued to send potential investors and donors inside our doors to consider future filming opportunities! We are very enthusiastic about shooting in 2018 as we begin ELLEN'S LIGHT. Our shooting will take us to all parts of the world.
This opportunity is one of the few ways social entrepreneurship can really work. There are both social returns and fiscal returns which can be very exciting, especially with a project remembering heroes and finding the "best" in people.
Most importantly, this entire film franchise is based on one thing. WE WANT TO HELP THE VISUALLY IMPAIRED. Can you imagine being on the ground floor of working with medical scientists, technology and future operations to help people have sight again? This drives us every single day, month and year.
Let's make 2018 amazing and we honor Ellen for giving all of us hope and inspiration. Every time our team is close to her, we see her love, her faith and her sight is often so far beyond those who can see. She is truly a blessing to all of us.
We love you Ellen, this is YOUR YEAR in the twenty year anniversary in living with a new kind of vision! Our prayers are with you DAILY.
Let's do this,
Your Film Team
The most important roles we all play in filmmaking, is when we come together with a unified vision and a unified purpose. Our film franchise is built around helping the visually impaired. I can't think of many causes that come close to being as focused as ours is on solutions.
Because of Ellen, we have rallied people from many races all over the world and have been conducting screenings in Texas, Michigan, North Carolina, Colorado and beyond all in the final quarter of 2017. When reflecting on the many people who are now "on board", we can only stop to say thank you.
Nick Karas met with our team and heard the dream of his sister and without hesitation, volunteered to find others who would join us in the crusade and he succeeded. Aristotle Karas his son came on board and has immediately introduced our film team to prominent financial partners and investors. We are so thankful for his vision for what this film and others like it can mean to the world.
Nick did not stop with family, but then introduced our team to Glenn Brown from Colorado, a former United States Air Force veteran and the founder and pioneer of Ice Hockey in the Republic of Turkey. Glenn has joined the Executive Producing Team to help find sources who might participate in this historic film.
Glenn Brown went to work immediately and began hosting and funding screenings nationwide. In December, because of Glenn, we traveled to Detroit, Michigan and then to Jackson, Michigan, the birth home of Tony Dungee to showcase our movie LAST OUNCE OF COURAGE, a film dedicated for our US Veterans in 2012 with one purpose, to share the story of ELLEN'S LIGHT. Glenn booked us on local radio and the results were overwhelmingly positive.
We believe Civil Servants just like Ellen was when the bombs went off in Tanzania and Kenya are just as purposed and mission minded as any other military volunteer and they should be honored. On a wintry night in Michigan, a standing ovation for the film and for the film team was part of this magical night, that never would have taken off, it were not for Glenn.
This is the kind of dedication that "wins the race" for Ellen and we are so thankful for the team of Executive Producers who continue to open doors for us to screen movies, share our story of Ellen and talk about how people can help the visually impaired with us.
On this Christmas 2017, we wanted to stop and thank each and every one of you, who are believing and praying for this amazing film franchise to be created. We are especially thankful for the Karas family who have come alongside of our efforts and we want you to know, every call, every hour you give, matters.
May the Lord bless each one of you in 2018 and let's turn on the switch and make ELLEN'S LIGHT shine forever.
Love you all,
Have you ever tried to give in your life to something you believe in and then, the very gift you are giving seems small compared to the reward which keeps coming back your way? This is exactly what happened to us yesterday when we contacted an amazing lady of character. Our purpose was to give and instead, we received way much more.
The good book tells us to help others, but few actually follow through on this like Sibyl Burrows. This beautiful lady in Wimberly, Texas was a dear friend to Ellen when she needed a home. Sibyl did one of those "behind the scenes" selfless acts of love to help her and never sought any credit, but she did this out of love and integrity.
When we found out about this beautiful gesture of kindness, we desired to honor Sibyl so she is our new CO-EXECUTIVE PRODUCER of the feature documentary film. Nobody deserves to be honored more than this woman of faith.
Our staff was on the phone with her and she immediately said, "Why not use our new venue Messina Inn in Texas at Coral Springs for a launch party for the movie! Isn't it like a woman of inner grace to take something we wanted to "honor her" and figure out a way to reach out to our team and especially Ellen in helping her get the medical procedures she needs for a potential set of bionic eyes! This is our dream and is our mission and purpose to begin a domino effect helping the visually impaired. Through our non profit VERITAS MISSION FILMS because we believe so much in the future of giving back.
DECEMBER 7, 2017 we are going to have private screenings at the Messina Inn in Texas at Coral Springs both at 2 pm and 6 pm! Sibyl has graciously offered to use this amazing evening for an end of the year true opportunity to share our dream for this wonderful film franchise.
I believe you can't out give God because this is the way He continues to show off too. Remember how important it is to have a "village" of people who surround you, well our village is growing with amazing people who are desiring to impact culture with film.
Thank you Sibyl and for your granddaughter Cherri Maley for opening up your outstanding venue. If you desire to have a wedding, a gathering of corporate or find a beautiful venue only forty five minutes from Austin, Texas, consider the MESSINA INN of Texas! These are among the finest people in the world and are our gracious hosts this Christmas season.
Keep giving to visions and dreams where there is a cause. We are helping the visually impaired, so do everything you can to reach out and make a difference this season. Maybe there is a hospital that needs you, an orphanage, a children's home, handicapped causes, but get involved. Don't want to be a part of something amazing.
This week the MUSEUM OF THE BIBLE opens in Washington, DC and for seventeen years we have seen the birth and maturity of this beautiful gift to the world. We especially thank David, Barbara Green, Steve and Jackie Green along with our son, Michael and daughter in law Lauren Green McAfee as they launch this gift to the world.
Keep giving, it's Thanksgiving!
You can't create a film without amazing Executive Producers. I am thankful that recently Garth Brooks at the CMA awards immediately thanked the band and crew for helping put him out on the road. If you don't have the people who are willing to stand up and be accountable to bringing the film from dream into a reality, the dream never happens.
It takes a lot of committed people to make movies and our team is growing every day. The reason is because of people being committed to go the extra mile. When you take the mantra of "helping the visually impaired", this is a big dream, but not impossible.
Allow me to share the exciting news which transpired in early Fall of 2017 and especially of the hard work accomplished in Colorado. Special thanks first go to Jim Gromer, for investing time, finances and his personal belief in making a series of meetings, a stark reality.
Next, we thank Nicholas C. Karas, who is the brother of Ellen and he was the first EP to stand up and say, "Yes, I want to help my sister and make this dream a reality". I am so thankful for his leadership along with his beautiful wife Chrissy. Sometimes, when you take a small step of faith, even greater things happen in the future.
Last month, I was honored to be hosted by one of our producers at GR Productions, Jim Gromer in the state of Colorado. He invited our team to Colorado for many reasons, but especially for meeting about important films in the future. One of the key "leading films" we discussed was ELLENS LIGHT! Jim is one of our film team producers and he brought a guest with him to one of our film screenings. Without Jim, the ball did not move forward, but look what happened as a result of his faithfulness.
Jess Stainbrook made his "mark" in film as an Executive Producer for the film, SEVEN DAYS IN UTOPIA which was an excellent film about golf. Robert Duvall did his usual amazing job on screen and Jess had written the first five drafts of the screenplay to get the project started.
At the screenings, Nicholas invited his son and entrepreneurial success Aristotle Karas and Karen Elkins, philanthropists from the Colorado region. Aristotle caught the imagination of ELLENS LIGHT immediately and has come on board as the new Executive Producer.
However, it didn't stop there. Nicholas brought Glenn Brown, the pioneer of "ice hockey" being birthed in the Republic of Turkey. Glenn had met Nick at the Veterans gathering in Colorado and immediately responded to the "call" to help make this film a dream.
Glenn Brown is now on board as one of the Executive Producers joining our team to make this film happen. Can you believe it? Because of the faithfulness of good men stepping out in faith, look at the results of this happening.
Ellen Karas has been working diligently in Texas with staff and volunteers and there will be an "end of the year" event in Austin celebrating the birth of "Ellens Light" as we seek visionaries to help make this dream happen.
If Ellen had not started this entire ball to rolling, none of these many meetings would have ever taken place. Do you see the power of how faith plays a role in every project?
Lord David Alton from the British House of Lords in London, once told us, "It takes one stone to start a landslide". His words have never rang so true and here is what happens when you step out in faith.
Thank you all for your continued support and a special thank you is being sent to the Karas family members in Colorado and beyond. This family has seen what took place in August of 1998 and in this season of thanksgiving, we want to say THANK YOU KARAS FAMILY.
Whenever you take a huge film franchise on like this, you must crawl, walk and then run together. Many people are not working hard. Nick and Glenn are on the road making everything happen. Ellen and company are diligently working in Texas and the GR Productions team is ramping up for filming. If you want to learn more about how you can join us in helping this wonderful and timely story make screens in the 20th anniversary next year, just contact us today.
With Deepest Appreciation,
In Denver, Colorado the "ELLENS LIGHT team" has been growing this week. We have been assembling for the purpose of pushing ELLENS LIGHT forward into PRE-PRODUCTION. Nick Karas brought his son, Aristotle Karas into the first set of meetings, followed by filmmakers Jim Gromer and his new business partner Jess Stainbrook, who all attended a screening together.
The talented Jess Stainbrook was involved in the inspirational golf film, SEVEN DAYS IN UTOPIA and is a heralded business cable television owner in Denver and author. Jim has been involved in films with GR PRODUCTIONS film, THROUGH THE VALLEY and is working with Dr. McAfee on his new screenplay entitled, THE UNIQUE.
Glenn Brown has now come on board as an Executive Producer joining the team to enlarge the territory. These wonderful men are all involved now in making this amazing story come to life. We need people who are willing to step out and make a difference using the visual language of film.
This means for all those are following ELLENS LIGHT, our team of Executive Producers are stepping forward to sharing their story. Nicholas Karas, Aristotle Karas, Jim Gromer and Jess Stainbrook from Colorado are coming together with a vision to "give back" and to help the "visually challenged" in pursuing this dream. Joining Thomas Karas, Jim Cormier and George Karas, the family and film professionals are truly making a covenant to help make a wonderful story come true.
Non profit opportunities continue to open doors for the entire team through VERITAS MISSION FILMS, the non profit as part of the McAfee family of companies. Momentum continues to happen every month and sponsors are now being met with regarding their opportunity to come forward for this exciting project.
Helping the Visually Impaired is so important to our core team in helping Ellen through this film franchise and having the right "team" of experts has been an essential part of the growth opportunity for the movie.
Stay tuned for more exciting updates as we move into the holiday season. A special thank you to the "growing community" of those who want to celebrate the "family of man" coming together in unity in a project like this, which really matters.
Excited for our team!
