ELLEN'S LIGHT is now in full development. Ellen Karas and Dr. Kevin McAfee are partners in the story creating a group of intellectual properties for a mission and a purpose.
Almost twenty years ago, a horrible villain emerged on the Western front as a fugitive in the beginning of Al Queda creating an Egyptian Jihad against two United States Embassy locations in Kenya and Tanzania.
This focused attack began a domino impact which has lasted until this very day. While the war has raged globally, another war began in the lives of those who were blown up in both locations. Over 4000 Kenyans lost their lives and have been almost forgotten.
Civil Servants serving our nation were completely forgotten in this international bombing incident and the survivors have been left to a large degree, with nothing.
Among those who suffered, Ellen was working on a thirty day assignment where she had traveled from Jetta, Saudi Arabia. She had always dreamed of serving in Africa and loved the nation. Little did she imagine her life was about to move into darkness as she was blown up emaciated with shards of glass in her eyes, face and torso.
Ellen is a young seventy one years of age and she needs a prosthetic eye, and bionic eyes are on the horizon from SECOND SIGHT, but they are expensive. Our film project will give hope to her possibly allowing her to see images again.
The visually impaired need medical science and technology to be working together and now, through ELLEN'S LIGHT, the non profit of VERITAS MISSION FILM ASSOCIATION is championing this cause. They are working with GR PRODUCTIONS to make this film commemorating the twentieth anniversary in August 2018.
Time is of the essence and we need your help. Through VMFA you can donate at www.veritasmissionfilms.com and give to this cause. We are looking for 3 sponsors at $500,000 per sponsor to help us make this movie, book and begin the process of a screenplay.
Our goal is to create a feature film over the next five years in the same spirit as ARGO, BRIDGE OF SPIES and 13 HOURS OF BENGHAZI for the world to understand how this all began and where we are going. We need your help and we thank you for willing to be involved today.
Nick Karas is Ellen's youngest brother and serves as our Executive Producer. He was waiting for Ellen at Walter Reed Hospital three days after the bombing providing loving support and help for her. Nick along with GR PRODUCTIONS is working diligently to bring all the parties from the world to re-tell one of the most important historical stories of our time.
Thanks to award winning journalist Ted Koppel, Ellen's story was brought to ABC Nightline in 4 different specials to the world. The brave men and women who served were deeply cared for as a nation stood watching in horror.
It's time to help turn tragedy into triumph. After the bombing, Ellen was handed her ten day old granddaughter, who for the next twelve years she raised as a blind person. The dramatic story of this effort and the bravery of her life needs to be shared with the world, in a new way.
Thankfully, ABC and many of the television networks did an amazing job of sharing her life with the world. It's now time for us to bring this to the international spotlight in film festivals, on network and cable television and working for the "visually impaired" is our mantra.
On behalf of our entire film team, we cannot think of any "cause" more worthy of the attention of the world, than bringing to the forefront the medical technology and scientific breakthroughs in retina and cornea surgical arenas.
The legal teams who never forgot these civil servants and are still in the fight for championing human rights in Washington DC, in the court systems and on international shores must be heard. We are standing with these unforgotten heroes and asking you to stand with us.
Ellen needs to see again. Thank you for helping VERITAS MISSION FILMS and GR PRODUCTIONS bring sight to someone who has given their lives for us.
